nonetheless, i still need to get my veggie on. i got a sample of this super antioxidant shot from my goodie bag from CIM.

normally, i wouldn't buy stuff like that because i feel like they're gimmicky, too good to be true and not really worth the money. this product claims that two of these is equivalent to the antioxidants in 8 servings of fruit and 4 servings of veggies. sounds good, but it's not like it's the same as eating 8 servings of actual fruit and 4 servings of actual veggies. while antioxidants are good, you don't get the fiber and vitamin benefits as eating the real whole fruit and veggie.
i understand it's more of a "supplement" than a substitute for produce, but it looks like a lot of money to pay for antioxidants. not to mention all the waste that goes into the packaging. when you look at it this way, it feels so much more unhealthy doesn't it?
i've always been of the mindset that the real thing is always better. so what do you kids do to get all your fruits and veggies in? is this lover of everything tropical missing out on some hidden delicious wintery gems? please share!

Is it really difficult to find fruits & veggies? I mean, I know there may not be that many farmers' markets, but can't you go to a grocery store and buy organic?
We like farmers markets too, but we don't have a problem buying from the grocery store. We like those steamfresh bags you can buy (ziploc) and we cut up zucchini and summer squash and steam it in the bag with butter, salt, and pepper! You could do it with carrots too!
We also eat the frozen veggies if needed too. We eat a TON of vegetables!
kelsa- finding the produce is not the problem. i have no problem buying from the grocery store. i just find that the selection in the winter dwindles down to mainly what you can get year round (ie: carrots, broccoli, and squash) and for me that's boring. and as for frozen, blech. i've tried all kinds and all types and they're just not as good. but i supposed better than nothing.
I'm kind of with you on this one. I'd prefer to get my vitamins and minerals and all that jazz from the real fruit or veggie not a supplement. But then again I take a mutlivitamin every day to make sure I'm not missing anything. No one's eating can be perfect all the time.
I have been better about getting my fruits and veggies in within the past month. It can take a lot of time/preparing, but once you get into a routine, it's almost natural. I find that I crave fruits and veggies now!
