on the schedule: a 6 mile "long run" @ 12:22.
as much as i like to push myself when it comes to running, it's such a relief to know that i only have to run 6 miles at a snail's pace. not to say my run was easy peasy. but it was just right. my knees felt a little rickety again in the beginning but after a mile i was warm and gliding along.
in the beginning my speed ranged from 4.7 mph to 4.9. i eventually settled into 5.0 for a good while. then the treadmills next to me started to fill up, my time was dwindling, and there were hoverers lurking. so my speed crept up to 6.0 at one point, just so i could finish as close to 6 miles as i possibly could in the time i was given (which was about 70 minutes)
it felt so good to sweat again. and even pant a little at the end. out of the corner of my eye, i could see the guy next to me shoot glances my way, certain i would collapse and he would have to resuscitate me. thankfully, that wasn't necessary.
i'm hoping this is the beginning to some consistent training again. because i really have missed it.

Have I mentioned how jealous I am that a) you can run on a treadmill and b) you can keep a strong, consistent pace while running?
It has been one of my goals for the past four months to pursue consistency and steadiness. And while I've done a decent job with it, I don't think I have the muscle (physical or mental) to do it with treadmill-caliber consistency.
While I may not be the ultimate running guru, I think that's pretty awesome. Good running! And thanks for the good words.
Great job! I can never seem to speed up at the end of my runs on a treadmill.
It looks like we've been on the same running "schedule." And now, time to re-dedicate. Glad you got in a good run.
good for you, girl. not easy to run 6 on the treadmill, that is for sure. keep it up!
Glad to see that you jumped on that machine and didn't let it beat you. Most important now is to build a strong base and stay injury free.
When I was in college I worked in the kitchen prepping food and washing dishes. It was a tough job and I went home bone tired every night. I think the only thing that got us through the shifts was all the joking and teamwork we had, especially on the real busy nights.
After working in the restaruant these 50 mile runs are a walk in the park!
Cheers!
Hi there, first time visiter to your blog. Looks like you've got some schedule there. It's been years since I did any waitering work but I certainly remember the sore feet. Can't imagine then having to face a run after a whole shift on your feet though. Keep it up.
Wow, 6 on the treadmill? You are super-duper!
I am glad that your run went pretty well. I take it you were not interested in the staring you down?!
I always find myself speeding up at the end of runs. I don't know if it is because I just want to get it done, or I am really capable of going faster at that point in my run!
Why the guy cute? Maybe you should have pretended to collapse.
Er, that should have said "Was the guy cute?".
I think people like to stare at short people running on treadmills, then again, they stare at me running outside also. Maybe it is just cause we're short...
