today was day 2 of the knee band thingee try out. partway through my shift, the velcro on one of the bands was really irritating my leg so i took it off. the other was totally comfortable, didn't even feel like i was wearing anything. except for the fact that the knee i had it on felt much more supported. the other knee...i felt like i was newborn calf just starting to walk!
so yeah, these bands are miracle bands!
and now at the end of my shift i can tell a difference between which knee had the band on all day and which one didn't. on tuesday, i'm heading back to the running store to exchange the crappy velcro one for a better one and hopefully, i'll be good to go.
maybe i should sign up to be the spokesperson for these amazing knee band thingees...

MPA could do a PSA for KBT (Knee Band Thingees)! Sounds like an excellent ad.
I use those knee band thingees on any run I do over 10K. Even if it's only a placebo effect, they help! In the past when I ran marathons too close together and my knees ached, I would rub Tiger Balm Arthritis Rub on my knees and it would make the pain go away. That stuff is magical.
Wow, I've never heard of those knee bands, but I'm glad they help. My knees start getting sore after about 9 miles, which I've always thought was just, kind of, normal. Maybe I should look into some care options though. Good luck testing them on some more runs!
I always wondered if the bands worked. I see Peter run with them, but I still had my doubts. Hey, thanks for the comment on my blog. The church is St. Columba Episcopal, in upper Northwest, Washington, D.C.
Hey! I'm catching up with your running life and I'm really excited to hear about the knee bands. As I've mentioned before, it's really easy to sell me on something that works for real people.
I wouldn't worry too much about your knee size. I'm 5'0 tall (and you're Miss Petite America) and average weight. I bought a size small knee brace (without trying it on) a couple weeks ago, and when I tried it on, it felt like I was trying to stop poison in my foot from entering the rest of my blood stream!
I know those things are supposed to be tight... but I don't think losing my feet is the answer for bad knees!
Anyhow: it's great to hear that someone has found a knee solution. Now, do you know anything about stitches? ;-)
Which brand are you using? I've looked at them, but never bought assuming it wouldn't fit my knee. I'd also like to avoid the need for bodyglide on additional body parts...
Hi, they sound really good, good luck with the longer runs.
