- i am coming off an injury, one that will reoccur if i overuse too quickly.
- i would like to meet new peeps.
- i would like to run outside and really only feel safe doing it with other people while it's dark.
- i'm hoping a group would keep me motivated and consistent with training.
even so, i think i may check out the informational meeting tomorrow. saturday's the first workout but once we pay and we get the training schedule there are no refunds. even if the training may seem slow, training with the group seems to have more benefits than training alone does right now. and perhaps i can supplement the workouts by adding time in before or after the workouts.
we'll see...i don't even know if the group thing will suit my personality.
p.s. i finally broke it off with MH tonight. it's been weighing on me for quite some time and every time i would try to do it, i just couldn't. i'll spare you the details. it wasn't terribly messy, part of me thinks he saw it coming, but he made it very clear there is no room for friendship.
it's not that i'm heartbroken. maybe a little sad. but honestly, more relieved. it really was the right thing to do for a lot of reasons. though, this may be the first time i'm a little sad on valentine's day.

I love my local training group. I wasn't sure about it at first, but I quickly became convinced that it was a good fit for me. You should check it out!
Sorry to hear about the dissolution of things with MH, but it sounds like it's been coming.
12 weeks does seem like a long time to train for a 5K -- you could train for a marathon in that time! -- but the other benefits of the group may be worth the time investment.
12 weeks does seem like a bit of a long time, but is the group hoping to continue on together to longer races? I'd say definitely try it. Even if you don't end up going to each workout, you might meet some cool new people and learn something!
And sorry to hear about the boy... here'e to you for doing what's best for YOU!
sorry to hear about MH...
12 weeks does seem long, but it seems like you would get a lot of other things you wanted out of it, like running outside and meeting new people...so it might not be a bad idea
12 weeks? Most of them must be beginners or they are really working on 5k PRs.
I say go for it!
You may meet a cool runner dude.
esp. after the breakup maybe diving into a group thing like that will be good for you...but I will say I never knew those groups cost money... so you do have to consider that too.
And good for you with going with your feelings and making the decision right for YOU.
I've never been part of a training group but I bet the motivational benefits and meeting new people will make it worthwhile.
Sorry to hear about you and MH. Those things are always difficult.
Breaking up always sucks...even when you know it's for the best.
Running is so different with a group...I think you'll enjoy it, if only for the change in "scenery"...Have fun!
I've never run with a group . .. well, I did a running 101 class, & everyone that came came in groups of 2 or more, I came alone.
BUT I have been thinking about it. One store has runs on Tuesday & Saturday (I can pay daily), I ws htinkign of joining, but like right now, I'm looking at 6-10 inched of snow & more expected tomorrow night.
AND in June this same place starts a Marathon or 1/2 class . . . . please post your thoughts on the group. . . .I do want to meet new people, but I'm not so sure . . its a big commitment &
maybe you should see if there is a running group in your area that's free. . . . I'm not 'up to par' with the distances. . . I have no runnign friends, so I'm SOL
& about the boy . . . .good for you for doing what you know is right.
if it makes you feel better, my dad STILL sends me flowers, because my DH dosen't even get me anything at X-mas or Bday. . . . and yes, i do get for him. I'm a firm believer in doing what YOU woudl want people to do for oyu, my DH is a firm beliver in DO FOR ME!!! :o). . . . its not that bad, i got a tiffany braclet for my 29th Bday, 5 yrs ago from him
The group sounds like a good idea! You'd be bringing in some real experience that would help everyone, and you'll meet new people. Sounds fun. :)
Sorry to hear about the break up, but you sound sure about your decision. It is hard but it's for the best. Treat yourself to a wonderful Valentine's day- weather that means ignore it entirely, go out with friends, or order in yummy food and open a bottle of wine. (hugs)
I dont think I will ever train again on my own.
I am in love with my group!
Sorry to hear about the breakup. This is a great time to listen to Jack Johnson, isn't it?
