all your recommendations are greatly appreciated, but...
i've used a running hat and a running visor and they both irritate the hell out of me because 1. my head gets hot 2. they get blown off in the wind (and it can get windy 'round here) 3. when they do reach saturation (and they always do) they just aren't effective anymore.
i switched to sunglasses mainly for comfort reasons. i just don't do well with head covering. but now i have sweat management issues to contend with.
i've tried bandanas, sweatbands. and yes they work up to a point, but again there's a point where they just don't work anymore. i don't care how much they say they wick. also, again, they make my head hot. so marcy, while those bondibands look freakin' cute, i think i would just tear it off some point during my run because my head caught on fire.
so i did some research and found this. looks a little nerdy, but actually kinda nifty. and i'm a sucker for sleek AND effective design. at $16 it sounds steep but if it really works then i'd be willing to pay double.
and don't even get me started on hair management. all you chicas with long hair who can pull it straight back in a ponytail, consider yourself blessed. chicas like me with thick short hair are screwed. unless i want to shave it off (which i consider on a weekly basis). i'm currently using the goody stay put sport headbands and they sorta kinda work. but after a while they stretch out and manage to slip their way to the back of my head NOT where it belongs. i cut my hair short in the first place because i have not ever found a hair accessory that can tame it. but when it comes to running, the sexy, side swept bangs don't work so well.

I have those "stay put" headbands by Goody too and I think they're kinda crap. Part of the reason I've been letting my hair grow longer is so that all of it fits back in a pony for running -- when I had it layered and jazzy before, it sucked pulling it back with 1,000 bobby pins. And if I do get fly-aways now, I sweat enough pretty quickly to slick 'em back!
I know what you mean about the sweaty face predicament as well -- I end up constantly wiping away sweat with my hand as I run -- it stings in the eyes, but there's not much that I find effective or useful either. Just have to deal with it, I guess.
Be sure to let us know if the sweat gutr works. I need one, even if it doesn't sound so sexy.
trust me those of us with long hair that can whip it back in a ponytail still have issues!!
i also have the bands and i figured i had a weird head or something cause they certainly dont stay on cute like the celebraties or the photos..they must take those right when they put them on.
and dont even get me started on sweaty face.
Yeah, the insane Britney Spears look is not cute LOL.
I do agree with you, the BondiBands do eventually get super duper saturated but that usually happens just before it's quiting time for me (I'm only doing a HM) so this is a concern I'm interested in for the longer races. Hopefully you will find a solution and let me know, because I sweat like Niagara Falls :-X :-X
I've seen those Gutrs before and wondered what the hell it was for. If you get one, give us the 411.
I had really short hair a couple of times in my life, and I found that it took me longer to style my hair when it was short than when it was long. Go figure. So I feel for you on this issue. You mean even the big terry cloth sweatbands that tennis players used to wear in the 70s don't work?!
I use the "stay put" bands for my ponytail and they actually do work for me...but nothing else does...strange how that works.
Yes, do let us know (with pic attached) of how the Gutrs works....I'm so glad to know that I'm not the only girl out there who looks like she's been running in the rain.....
by the way, when I had to type in my verification word below it ended with pms....thought that was funny in a nerdy sorta way.
