2 shadows

so i know i said i was taking a week hiatus from running. i lied. i can't help it. the weather has been so perfect for running. and my feet don't hurt that bad. i've been careful to massage and ice with a frozen water bottle. and stretch like a mo'fo'. i thought at the very least i could see how i felt after a short, easy run.

i brought MH with me, which was a little nerve-wracking. i warned him i was slow. and i warned him that it was gonna be short. 4 miles only. he still said he was up for it. so off we went.

dude smoked me up the hills. rat bastard! i did all i could to keep up. but for the most part we ran side by side, listening to our respective ipods. some of the time i worried i was going too slow. part of the time i worried whether maybe it was too much. part of the time i forgot he was there. part of the time i'd try to speed up and he'd match it and add more then i'd think shit, i gotta slow down. but at 3 miles he said he was done. wtf? i was just warming up?

interestingly enough, our splits are slower than they have been.

i'm not totally sold on the whole running partner thing. my mind was working overtime worrying. but i can definitely see him being useful for running faster.

That's one of the reasons I prefer to run alone. I'm afraid I'm going to be too slow/fast for the other person. Wondering if I they find me annoying :P (which in all likelihood is yes LOL), what if I want to go longer or shorter then the distance we planned, etc . . . . .

But I'm sure if you became used to running together (and the worrying subsides) he could definitely be beneficial to you in pushing you to go faster :-)

Have you tried buying a new pair of shoes? My foot was hurting, and after a week of cross training, icing and then a new pair of shoes, my foot feels 100%. I think I went too long on the old pair.

There are definitely ups and downs with running with a running partner. You never know how it is giong to go. But, it can be nice at times. You can push each other. I know when I ran with my mom the other night, it was nice. Even though it was only a little over a couple miles, time flew by as we spent the entire run talking!

Just like every other run, there will be good ones and bad ones...

I'm big on running by myself, too. But I do find that running with a partner helps push me faster and farther...

Hope you're taking it easy, dollface :)

How are your feet? Be careful; you don't want to end up like me!

I think running with someone who's faster than you are can definitely help with your own pace; it's how I got faster. But there is something to be said for running alone. It's easier to "listen" to your body that way.
