on the DL

injury/illness-imposed rest is the worst kind. so i'm calling the next couple days of rest "a vacation" instead. sounds, better doesn't it? instantly takes me from "if my sinuses don't kill me, then my legs are gonna fall off" freak-out syndrome to "ahhhh, now i don't have to be a slave to the training schedule and i can actually take more time to do other things"

and if my "vacation" is forced to overlap with race day, so be it. sh!t happens. at least i'll be at the beach. there will be other races.

maybe this isn't the attitude of a comeptitive elite racer, but what can i do? i got sick. i got injured. both at the wrong time (not that there ever is a right time) but i know i can do the distance. besides it's too early to tell how i'll really feel come race day. so fingers crossed people.

but until then, i'm on siesta...

good attitude! it sounds like you've made some major progress in the past couple months anyway. be proud of that and whatever happens, happens.

You have a while before the race, I'm sure that your nose will cooperate... plus all that time siesta-ing will heal up those gams for a great run!

If not, c'est la vie! Enjoy the vacation!

enjoy your vacation. I tend to freak out mid-run sometimes, that's great for mental toughness...

You are in the final stretch, any benefit you can get from training you've already gotten and if you take it easy the next 10 days you'll be fresh for the race and you'll do great.

If not, like you said, there is always another weekend long run, another day, another race.

Races come / Races go. If you're feeling well, have fun; if not, go to the beach and just enjoy the sun shine and surf. Afterall, you're on vacation.
