i survived a week of effed up hormones, a night of waaaaaaaaay too many margaritas, a weekend of god-awful allergies and ineffectual OTC medicine. i'm picking up my prescribed medicine today and paying FULL price because i was stupid enough to run out during the one month lapse between changing health insurance. but being able to breathe is important enough for me to pay $125 in sweet, sweet drugs.
besides, last time i was lax in taking my allergy meds, i got a sinus infection that put me in utter pain for my LAST half marathon. i've worked too hard for this one to not pay my stupid tax for the meds. it's a lot to pay when i'm used to paying only $30, but in the grand scheme of things i would easily and without thinking spend $125 on totally non essential items, like beer, clothing, cute earrings etc.
but i don't think the OTCs are totally out of my system and they're still making me feel totally wrecked. i think i'll just stay inside with my head covered, sipping tea with lots of local honey (they say this works too for allergies) and head out for a nice run TOMORROW.

meds suck. I hope you're feeling better. just remember - yucky days are to help us appreciate the good days. :)
I agree with the ginger breadman (there's a sentence I wasn't expecting to type). Once you get past this yuck-slope, look back on it and spit. Or something more effective.
Get some good rest. I'm down with a cold today and there's several feet of snow on the ground outside... so while I'm itching to run, it's just not happening today.
So, all of the good food I ate this weekend is really just keeping me warm right now.
Here's to a new week!
I hope you're feeling better soon! Tea definitely helps!
are you getting psyched for the santa cruz race??
i'm jealous. i bet it'll be awesome!
u r gonna do great!!
I highly recommend homeopathic remedies. Go to Whole Foods; they've got a shitload of 'em. I take one made by a company called BioAllers -- one for my allergies and one for my asthma. And when I have a cold, there are a bunch of them for every symptom, from post-nasal drip to cough. Feel better.
I hope you feel better soon! You'll enjoy running even more after your little break. Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Or wait. Is it out of sight, out of mind? :)
Have fun on your run today...and good luck with the real meds, I bet they help get a decent night sleep...
Take care. My allergies blow pretty bad right now too. While the meds give me some relief, they also make me feel a bit "weird". It's kind of hard to describe the weirdness. I just feel a bit agitated and it takes me a little bit longer to fall asleep.
I think I'll try that honey tip. It's not an old wives tale is it? Or perhaps an urban legend?
I'm with GP. For most ailments, you can't beat the value of sleep.
