i'm hoooooooome!

with my feet firmly planted on california soil, i can happily declare i'm home! but my luggage? not so much. mother bitches! i never check baggage but with the new liquids rule, i basically had no choice because i require excessive amounts of hair product and lip gloss. so i turned my bags over to tsa. and now look what happened!

i get ansty at the baggage carousel. i worry that someone will walk off with my bag and i'll be forced to confront them (or worse not realize someone has walked off with my shit). i worry that my bag will have busted open and all my dirty undies will be spilling out. and then i worry that my bags are in bolivia instead of sacramento, california. they've tried to assure me that they're on the next flight in, but who knows.

i was smart enough to carry-on my laptop and my custom orthotics for my running shoes, but not my actual shoes. my digital camera however is lost with the luggage, so pictures of my beautiful bruised toe will have to wait til later.

i bet you can't wait! (and say a prayer to the gods of lost luggage that my things make it safely back to me!)

Ugh! I flew home from Portland in May and accidentally packed my laptop in my checked bag (I had the hotel hold my bag during my last day and then I didn't take the laptop out on my way to the airport). As soon as I realized I had checked my laptop, I knew my bag would get lost. And it did.

Everything came back safe and sound... but I must have tipped my baggage karma or something.

I generally have to check my luggage because of a not-so-big-but-too-big-for-carry-on bottle of hair products. But I guess I shouldn't complain about safety precautions. Maybe I should just leave my hair alone ;-)

I'm sending out good luggage vibes... and I hope your bag doesn't take a more exciting trip than you'd like.

The airlines lost my luggage once as well, but I always follow my stepmother's rule: carry the essentials in your carry on -- tooth brush, clean undies, and swimsuit, if you're headed somehwere tropical.

I'm sure your bags will arrive soon!

Ugh! This is my nightmare! Can I ask if you changed planes? I'm in the same boat - never check bags, except the new liquids rule is going to screw me when I fly in September. I'm just hoping that since it's a direct flight, I have a better chance of my luggage landing with me ...

Hello from Vegas. I never check luggage now, after the airlines once delayed sending my luggage for two days - and that's after haranguing them constantly. So now I've cut way down on the hair/body products I use in general - that way I can fit all those products for a 2-week trip (like the one I'm one now)in a quart-size bag.

I hope you had a great trip. I'm so not brave enough to allow the blogworld to see my bruised toes. Good luck harassing the airlines, I say pull out all the stops (in my case that would involve having my mother bother them for me).

I think I saw your luggage going around and around here in Des Moines...seems sort of an indirect way to reach you...

One of your worst fears happened to me once, but in a slightly different way. My BF and I went to Europe for a month and only had a carry-on backpack each. Needless to say, on the way home, both backpacks were full of all our dirty clothes and we (surprise, surprise) got pulled into the random, carry-on search line. I nearly died watching the poor, gloved inspection officer (of course, he was a male) unzip my backpack, only to have about 5 pairs of dirty underwear fall out of it and onto the floor.

I was mortified.

But I'm sending you good luggage vibes!

those miserable people at TSA! Damn them and their ban on product! I just recently had a similar experience and it took them two days to get my back. Had to buy all new stuff.

Grrrr.

and BTW - who cares about dirty underwear... it's your lost running shoes I worry about.
