did you know the song "hyponotize" is perfect for keeping an 11 minute mile pace? i put it on repeat once i figured out that my footsteps aligned perfectly with the beat. and i couldn't help but recall julia stile's table dance in 10 things i hate about you. love that movie!

i'm beginning to think the treadmill and i aren't friends anymore. i've gotten used to running outside and found it hard to keep my mental game from ruining me. plus my sweat does not evaporate like it does when i'm outside. sometimes i think running outside, even with the hills, is easier based on the sheer evaporation factor. but i think mostly though, my hips and glutes were still a little worn out from my workout yesterday because when i finished my last interval and stopped to walk, i could feel they were tight and tired.
although, the gym DOES supply a good amount of people watching. this chick got on an elliptical in front of me wearing: sunglasses, a punk rock t shirt, jeans, and flip flops! and was talking on her cell the ENTIRE 20 minutes she was on it. wtf?
and on the other spectrum, i watched this chick do pullups. PULLUPS people!! i almost think i'd rather be able to do ONE pullup than win a million dollars.

Wait, you mean everyone doesn't wear flip flops and jeans on the treadmill? :-) I thought that was the ultimate in workout sexiness.
Ahh, pull-ups: that brings me back to my worst gym class experience ever. Every year in gym, we used to have to do a series of physical tests, and the pull-up was included. I recall that the bar was too high for me to reach on my own (being a fellow member of the "petite"), so the gym teacher had to lift me up to it. Where I just hung. I couldn't get my skinny, t-rex arms to lift me even an inch.
So, for several years in a row, once a year, I was lifted up to that bar where I hung in front of my entire class until the teacher took pity on me and instructed me to hop down.
In adulthood, I haven't gotten any stronger. I doubt I could do half a pull up. Thankfully, I'm not forced to by a sadist for a gym teacher.
I hope they don't do that to kids anymore.
I swear, what kind of gym do you go to? Isn't this the same place where someone was reading a newspaper on the treadmill?. Now, they appear to be stopping on the elliptical before hitting the beach. I'd run outside too if that's who you have to share equipment with!
I HEART that movie! And the scene of her table dancing was probably one of my favorite! I am quite surprised I haven't tried that yet!! ;)
I had to download that song as soon as I read that it ws good for an 11 minute pace. I will have to try it out! I am always looking for songs that work perfecting for certain speeds. Sometimes I hear songs on my nano when running and didn't realize how perfect they fit my speed at that time...hoping to remember later to share with fellow bloggers, but I usually forget. I will have to try harder!
WONDERFUL Job on the intervals! I haven't done those in a long while! The thrillmill does get old though!
Okay, here's a question about that Julia Stiles movie. Do women think the male lead is attractive or bizarre looking?
Nice workout! It looks like a swim workout, with all the different distances and interval times.
We have a saying about treadmills here in the Pacific Northwest: "Blessed be the thrillmill, for it keeps us dry." I do prefer running outside though.
It's great to read about your training and to hear that someone else couldn't do pullups for a million dollars.
High five on all your great work... and double high-five for representing the little people. We need to stick together ;-)
you have GOT to be kidding me??? someone actually was in that getup on the elliptical? oh Lord have mercy i am afraid i would have just busted out laughing...
